Back in the 1821 Whitey's Army Navy Store use to be the courthouse and the city jail. Parts of the old jail are still visible today, with the holes in the floor which are believed to be were the cells use to be. Also the height of the windows is higher than an other store on the square. The windows are believed to be put up so high so that no criminal would be able to escape. The basement of Whitey's is assumed to be where all of the criminals were held while the actual courthouse is where all of the merchandise is today.
